I. Introduction:

The LAB135 type Saybolt colorimeter is used to determine the color of refined liquid petroleum products, such as undyed automotive gasoline, aviation gasoline, jet fuel, naphtha, kerosene, and medicinal white oil. The Saybolt color refers to the numerical value of the liquid column height that is closest to one of the three standard color plates when observed through the sample liquid column for comparison with the standard color plates. The Saybolt color numbers are specified as ranging from -16 (the darkest) to +30 (the lightest). The Saybolt color test (Saybolt Color) is used for quality control and product identification of refined products with an ASTM color of 0.5 or lower.
The determination of petroleum product color is mainly used in the control process of oil production.
